wouldn’t mothers be happy they aren’t pregnant any more, happy to meet their baby, and take care of their baby, and just happy in general? that would be my prediction so I’m confused as to why mothers become depressed. what causes this depression? is there any cure?

We don’t know. But the idea of massive hormonal change is one of the primary issues for a woman who has just given birth.
For you article: “social working” is not an acceptable, or usable, term. Social Work is a very good career. But keep in mind, there is no such thing as a “mental hospital” which is just slang. There are psychiatric hospitals and hospitals with psychiatric units, sometimes referred to as mental health units.
