Can You Help Me Figure Out What This Culd Be?
Question by Jamie Routzong: can you help me figure out what this culd be?
okay, so my boyfriend thinks he has bipolar disorder. i disagree. unless its like, bipolar depression. i really think its just hormones. because he’s depressed, like all the time and i feel helpless because he wont explain everything to me or he just tells me that he’s okay until it gets so bad and he lets all of it go at once. i feel really bad that i cant help him. he’s either super depressed, or just “okay”. hardly ever does he say that he had a goo/great day. somthing always happens that screws it up. anyway, i just wanted ur guys opinion on what u think it could be… thanks for ur help!

I would break up with him before its too late and you have to go through a sticky divorce.
Or don’t break up with him or he’ll probably commit suicide.
You backed yourself into a corner here.

Bipolar disorder consists of periods of depression and periods of mania (characterized by feelings of grandeur, fast speech, etc), so it doesn’t sound like this.
There are two types of depression
I believe the first type is called major depression. This is characterized by negative feelings that disrupt daily functioning.
The other type is called dysthymia. Individuals with dysthymia do not experience negative feelings as severe as those with major depression, but the symptoms are longer lasting.
