. To review available qualitative evidence in the literature for health beliefs and perceptions specific to UK South Asian adults. Exploring available insight into the social and cultural constructs underlying perceptions related to health behaviours and lifestyle-related disease. . A search of central databases and ethnic minority research groups was augmented by hand-searching of reference lists. For included studies, quality was assessed using a predetermined checklist followed by metaethnography to synthesise the findings, using both reciprocal translation and line-of-argument synthesis to look at factors impacting uptake of health behaviours. . A total of 10 papers varying in design and of good quality were included in the review. Cultural and social norms strongly influenced physical activity incidence and motivation as well as the ability to engage in healthy eating practices. . These qualitative studies provide insight into approaches to health among UK South Asians in view of their social and cultural norms. Acknowledgement of their approach to lifestyle behaviours may assist acceptability of interventions and delivery of lifestyle advice by health professionals. HubMed – eating
Malnutrition and Obesity in Children With ADHD.

Objective: Low threshold of dissatisfaction and frustration in child and adolescent patients with ADHD lead to changes in dietary pattern with contribution to the development of obesity and other nutritional disorders. Methods: A total of 362 patients with the diagnosis of ADHD and 390 children without any chronic disease were included to the study. We evaluated the anthropometric measurements for all cases. Results: The overweight/obese cases according to weight for height (WFH) and body mass index scores were more likely in ADHD cases than control group. Malnourished cases according to WFH were more common in ADHD cases. Patients with weight standard deviation scores between <-2 and >2 were significantly higher in ADHD cases than the control group patients. Conclusion: Frequency of malnutrition and overweight/obese patients was found higher in ADHD cases compared with control group, and this situation suggested that ADHD is a risk factor for the development of eating disorders. Healthier eating is a global challenge for chronic disease control. Food and Health Research in Europe (FAHRE) surveyed research structures and programmes in 32 countries, and reviewed research needs and gaps across nine themes. Food processing and safety research, nutrition and molecular research, and disease-based clinical research are strong; but research is weak on determinants of disease and healthier eating through policies and changing behaviours. Biomedical and commercial research for patents contrast with social research for the public interest. More funding and capacity support should go to social research in the food and health sector. We report a new surgical technique for spontaneous esophagopleural fistula after pneumonectomy. A 67-year-old man underwent right pneumonectomy for tuberculosis-destroyed lung 30 years previously and a right Eloesser window for empyema without any evidence of fistula 4 years previously. He presented to our hospital for food material spillage out of the Eloesser window when he was eating. The esophagopleural fistula was observed from the upper thoracic esophagus to the right postpneumonectomy dead space. He underwent left cervical esophagogastrostomy via a presternal subcutaneous route, using thoracic esophageal mucosal stripping. He was discharged without complications on postoperative day 12.
